Description
National Standards for Grade Levels 5-9
Includes three demonstrations (types of waves, wave creation, and wave action) two hands on activities exploring wave motion, sediments, and beach erosion, a research and presentation project applying science and engineering to societal issues, and a written assignment with art connections. Special emphasis is placed on Influence of Engineering, Technology, and Science on Society and the Natural World; Human Impacts on Earth Systems; Ecosystem Dynamics, Functioning, and Resilience; The Roles of Water in Earth’s Surface Processes; and Problem Solving. Allow approximately seven hours for completing all activities. Designed for 24 students working in groups of 4. Requires computers with internet connections for research projects and a document projector (optional).
